Carven is a name which has been lingering on the lips of those in the know for some time now, biding their time until a collection comes along which secures the glittering approval of the fashion aristocracy. It would seem that collection has arrived. Carven Resort 2013 introduces us to retro bohemian, sure to be a key trend next summer. Paisley print, proper handbags, prim collars and t-bar platforms are the uniform of the moment, always wear matching separates if possible, don't forget a carefree attitude or a least a perplexed expression. Inspiration from this collection came from a book of 1970's style icons by Peter Schlesinger called A Chequered Past, which featured 70's style pioneers such as Twiggy and Bryan Ferry. Their influence is felt heavily in this collection, especially through colour, with royal blue interjected wherever possible and a zingy shade of mustard yellow which has never been seen since the 70's. Beautifully bohemian and somewhat accessible (Carven S/S 12 is available to buy at Net-A-Porter) this is a name which is bound to be shouted much, much louder this year- listen up Alexa Chung, this collection was practically made for you.
